US President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden attacked each other on various issues- from handling of the coronavirus pandemic, healthcare to wearing of face-masks at the first US Presidential debate. Presenting a spectacle just 35 days ahead of the biggest elections across the globe this year, Trump & Biden engaged in their significant round of debate on September 30. There was no handshake as the two men took the stage amid the coronavirus restriction. Trump mocked Joe Biden for wearing a face mask & said he wears facemasks when he thinks "it is required”. Biden immediately reminds him that his own CDC chief has talked about how masks can make a difference. moderator Chris Wallace asked the US President about The New York Times report which revealed that Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017, and also he had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years starting in 2000. Trump, who disputes the report, was pressed to say how much he paid in taxes but declined. "I paid millions of dollars in taxes. Millions of dollars in income tax," he said. Biden quickly used that as a point of attack, saying Trump “does take advantage of the tax code” and “pays less tax than a school teacher.” Democratic challenger Joe Biden branded President Donald Trump a liar and told him to "shut up" as the pair clashed in a bad-tempered start to their first televised debate. The debate, watched by a deeply divided nation, comes 35 days ahead of the most tense US election in recent memory. The two leaders would face each other in two more debates, in Miami on October 15 and Nashville on October 22, before the election on November 3. Watch the video to know more.
