Notes: The NFC champion Carolina Panthers were the best scoring offense in the NFL and were sixth best in scoring defense. Cam Newton is coming off an outstanding 2015 campaign and should see limited work in his first preseason game. Veteran Derek Anderson is his backup and enters his 12th year in the league. He has started 45 games in his career. He saw mop up work in three games last year and started twice in 2014. Joe Webb is also in camp and enters his seventh season in the NFL. Webb in his days with the Minnesota Vikings saw four starts including one in the playoffs. He has been on the Panthers roster the past two years.

Baltimore will hope for a healthier year for starting quarterback Joe Flacco. He saw work in 10 games and was forced to miss the final six regular season games due to injury. Flacco may see very limited work on Thursday. Ryan Mallet is the backup and has started eight games in his five year NFL career. Mallett started six games last year with two with the Ravens and four with the Texans. Josh Johnson has bounced around the league since way back in the 2008 campaign where he had four starts with the Buccaneers. He has not thrown a pass in a regular season game since the 2011 campaign. Jerrod Johnson is in camp and after spending the past four years away from an NFL roster.
