During a news conference Wednesday, Prince George's County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D) was questioned about his choice to support a white candidate, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), to replace retiring Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) over Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.), who is black. The question prompted a speech from Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) extolling on post-racial politics and the role of race in political endorsements.
