Two Osaka men were arrested Tuesday for allegedly smuggling six endangered species into the country. The two were selling rare animals in Osaka and are now facing charges for violating the Customs Act. Another woman has also been connected with the two suspects for bringing in four gray cuscuses and two Asian palm civets concealed in her luggage. Customs officials heard noises coming from the luggage. The woman confessed during questioning. One of the men pleaded guilty, while the other guy made up unconvincing excuses. A gray cuscus can cost US$3,000, while an Asian palm civet can cost US$800 in Japan.
