Often, it’s not just about time management on the surface, but also about understanding your own habits and the narratives you tell yourself. Are you prioritizing tasks that will actually help you move forward, or are you filling your day with busy work that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things? In this video, I don’t just offer general time management tips, but also help you reflect on what might be driving your behavior. For example, how many times do you spend hours perfecting an email that doesn’t actually require that much attention? It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking everything needs to be perfect, when in reality, being efficient with your time is more valuable. Another important point I cover is the need to understand your own energy levels. Everyone has times of the day when they’re most productive. For some, it’s early in the morning, while for others it’s later in the afternoon. Recognizing when you have the most focus and using that time to tackle your most important tasks can make a huge difference. That’s a key part of effective time management for PhD students. ................................................ ▼ ▽ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro 00:05 Maladaptive Perfectionism 05:10 Prioritizing 05:50 Not doing task based on energy 06:57 Say no to your supervisor 08:19 Paper baiting 09:23 Batching an Automation 09:50 Batching 11:31 Outro ................................................ ▼ ▽ RECOMMENDED ACADEMIC TOOLS AND SERVICES ▶ Recommended Apps, Books and Courses: https://academiainsider.com/recommended-apps-courses-and-books/ AI TOOLS ▶ Best PhD Writing Tool - Writefull - https://link.andrewstapleton.com.au/writefull (Get 10% off with my link) ▶ Best Literature Search - Litmaps - https://app.litmaps.co (Get 10% off with code STAPLETON) ▶ Best Literature Review Writing Tool - Jenni.ai - https://jenni.ai/ (Get 20% off with code ANDY20) ▼ ▽ RECOMMENDED YOUTUBE TOOLS AND SERVICES ▶ VidIQ - https://vidiq.com/drandy ▶ Camera - Canon EOS 650D https://amzn.to/3aDOog6 ▶ On camera mic - https://amzn.to/3iMTzx0 ▶ Webcam - https://amzn.to/43a8YyP ▶ Shotgun microphone - https://amzn.to/34gzcUX ▶ Portable recorder - https://amzn.to/3kUzF53 ▶ Lighting - https://amzn.to/2YgbAfv ▼ ▽ Socials for shorts and reels Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drandystapleton/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@drandystapleton
