Ministers are expected to ease off a full ban on new petrol cars by allowing hybrid vehicles to be sold until 2035. Labour had pledged to stop selling new cars with internal combustion engines by 2030, which seemed to include hybrids like the Nissan Qashqai. However, due to concerns about electric vehicles - such as their range, resale value, and charging infrastructure - along with pressure from the car industry, the Government is likely to extend hybrid sales for five years beyond the ban on pure petrol and diesel cars.
